Crawfordville Construction Update

Updated: May 28, 2020

We, at Harrison Poultry, are very excited for the growth that our future holds. As many people may know, we are expanding our company with the addition of a brand new state of the art feed mill located in Crawfordville, GA. This feed mill will be one of the largest in the South East, with the tallest structure standing at 208 feet tall. The implementation of this project will lead to GREAT benefits for our company. Our current feed mill located in Winder, GA was built in the 1960’s, and our capacity is completely maxed out at producing 5,500 tons per week giving us little ability to grow.

The ground breaking ceremony for the new feed mill was held on December 4th, 2018, at the A.H. Stephens Park in Crawfordville. Our progress has flourished tremendously since that day, and each day gets better. The projected date for the new feed mill to be in commission is October of 2020. With the completion of this project, our company can flourish even more and continue to grow.

Here is how the new mill will help…

Our new mill has the ability to produce 14,000 tons per week running two pellet lines. Then, with the potential addition of a third pellet line in the future, the capacity would be bumped up to a whopping 21,000 tons per week. Additional benefits involve our storage capacities growing phenomenally in comparison to what we are currently working with. Soybean mill storage will increase from 250 tons to 5,000 tons and corn storage will increase from 300,000 to 1,000,000 bushels. All other aspects of the mill will drastically improve as well such as: truck receiving rates, feed mixing rates, rail receiving rates, and rail yard capacity. A unique addition to the new mill is our 1.4 mile loop rail track which will allow 125 rail cars to be removed from the main line for safe and efficient unloading. With all of these improvements, we will be able to take next steps in our expansion project which are coming soon. Harrison Poultry is beyond ready to continue flourishing!
